DAY 13
Wednesday August 23, 2006
Time for a little shopping...
Last night was the best sleep I had this entire trip. For the first time I didn’t have to worry about getting bit by anything...

Also of note - they don’t have a regulating system for hotels - in terms of star designation. This hotel is the only official 4 Star hotel in Ukraine.

Other hotels may say they are 2, 3 or 4 star - but that’s only because they went to the market & bought that many stars themselves. I’m surprised I didn’t see any 6, 7 or 8 star facilities...

Today was a scheduled free day in Lviv.

I took this opportunity to stroll through the centre of the city .

Again it wasn’t uncommon to see a group of people huddled around a couple of old men playing chess.
This bazaar was only a 5 minute walk from my hotel
This hard working musician was using every available resource to make music.
He was blowing the horn plus using both feet for drums
Then it was time to hit the big shopping mall. And it was big!

The locals refer to this place as their “Las Vegas” - mostly because of the way it is lit up at night.
Did someone say they wanted fish?
Today was the first time I took a taxi ride in the Ukraine. A couple of observations:

    1. The drivers all look like they would just as soon
mug you - as take you to your destination.

    2. The white lines on the road - are purely
decorative - and serve no valuable purpose...

Tonight would also mark the first night in 2 weeks I had a steak for supper - at my new hotel...

After supper - it was back into the centre square - where the Opera House lit up the end of the square...
